CO-CHAIR RESEARCHOPS COMMUNITY
2018 - present
The ResearchOps Community is a global community of around 10,000 individuals from more than 60 countries. Together, we are shaping a profession - putting ResearchOps (the tools, processes and mechanisms that allow User Research to flourish at scale) on the map. It is the 'Ops of Ops'. It's been an honour to lead this community alongside Holly Cole, our 11 Directors and 70 local leaders to undertake 3 global projects so far in our work to develop the profession.
More information can be found at our website, researchops.community

WHAT IS RESEARCHOPS
I was the Australian coordinator for a global series of workshops (17 countries) centred around this problem. I undertook the global analysis and produced a network map of the fundamental question, which became the What is ResearchOps poster (developed by Kate Towsey using the kumu):
8 PILLARS OF USER RESEARCH
Emma Boulton, Tomomi Sasaki, Holly Cole and I conceptualised the 8 Pillars of User Research from the What is ResearchOps data. Emma put together the 8 Pillars from this. I have done talks on this with Benson Low at Web Directions 2019
RESEARCH REPOSITORIES PROJECT
This project set out to understand the problem space of research repositories in UR and UX around the world. Together, we have delivered:
PACE LAYERS MATRIX
With user research becoming more common within organisations, there is an emerging issue of meeting demand whilst also developing the craft of research. A new profession is emerging in response – research operations. This matrix uses two frameworks, which, once combined, creates a matrix that provides the tools to identify an investment strategy for research within the context of an organisation and their strategic goals. This matrix provides a significant contribution to the field by making it possible to be strategic and proactive about developing research practices in the context of individual organisations, how and why they do research, and to better manage the tension between scale and craft.
The full range of workshops, workbooks and papers are available at the Pace Layers Matrix Repo.
